We made it!

We made it. Our flights and excessive layovers were relatively painless. Uta was most impressed with JAL. He loved the bathroom, remarking that is was so nicely organized. The butter came shaped like a butterfly which thrilled him to no end. And he received three new mini lego sets as in flight souvenirs. What's not to love? I was just grateful we had an aisle seat and the flight attendants didn't mind when Uta accidentally and repeatedly hit the call button.

With a day or so lost to the skies, we are now attempting to adapt to life in Sonada. Our first night had me worried. Uta decided to bridge the language gap by acting insane, refusing to speak in either language, opting instead to alternate between animal sounds and police sirens. Apparently crazy is universal. But today things are looking up. It is the morning of day two and Uta is willingly speaking Japanese, even to strangers. My mind is still a fog with jetlag, but soon I hope to settle into a routine of writing. Stay tuned.
